This page is for people who either want to get into breeding dogs, think they SHOULD breed their dog, or who think they are going to make a big bundle of cash breeding "rare" breeds.

Let's say:
You just purchased your first Dogue de Bordeaux, you told the breeder you wanted a "pet quality" dog so you paid for a pet quality dog with a contract to spay/neuter the dog.  You think, "Hey I got one over on them, I'm going to breed the dog anyway, even if it doesn't have papers, I can sell them as pets."
Or
You have talked to a lot of "big" breeders and heard about the money they make breeding these dogs! Wow, you think you too can live easy on a dog. You too can be a big breeder!
Or
You really want your kids to see how life becomes what it is, to see the "miracle of birth"
Or
You purchased your first dog, a breed/show quality dog, and you have all intentions of doing right by the breed.

No matter what the situation, and we hope it is to improve the breed only, the following link gives the new comer, or the up and coming new comer, and even the seasoned vet, an honest, truthful look into dog breeding.  It is by a Shihtzu breeder, but the concept is the same, no matter what breed you are into.

If you think you want to buy a Dogue de Bordeaux to breed, go through these pages, then sit back and think, is this what I really want to do?
