BREEDER OF EXCELLENCE

The Breeder of Excellence Award is considered by the Dogue de Bordeaux Society of America community as the highest possible tribute to a member breeder.  It is not an honor to be granted yearly, but rather is awarded as a deserving candidate emerges. 

 

Eligibility:

bulletNominee must be a member in good standing of the Dogue de Bordeaux Society of America at the time the award is given.
bulletA candidate for this award has achieved the highest levels of leadership in preserving and promoting the future and heritage of the Dogue de Bordeaux.
bulletThis individual exemplifies standards of excellence in producing quality breeding stock, showcasing dogues in many areas of competition, and being a positive influence on the breed.
bulletThe nominee must have been involved with the breed for at least 10 years and will have bred at least 10 litters.
bulletThe nominee will have shown commitment to the highest standards of breeding ethics by promoting and participating in health, DNA, and other testing to improve the health of the breed.
bulletThe nominee will have freely shared his/her knowledge with others, will have been a mentor and will have actively participated in public education about the breed.
bulletThe nominee will have striven in all aspects to ensure the welfare of the breed.  While having bred Champions, this breeder will have also demonstrably shown concern for the wellbeing of each and every dogue bred by him/her, whether a show or companion dogue.
bulletThe nominee adheres to and exceeds every tenet of the Dogue de Bordeaux Society of America Code of Ethics, supports breed rescue, and actively participates in programs and services of the Dogue de Bordeaux Society of America.

 

General Rules:

bulletThe Breeder of Excellence nomination form must be submitted by a nominator no later than January 31st of the year in which the award may be given.
bulletNominator need not be a member of the Dogue de Bordeaux Society of America.
bulletThis is considered a lifetime achievement award and will be given only once to any individual.
bulletThis award will be presented at the National Specialty show if a deserving candidate has been selected.
bulletThe Awards Committee may recommend revisions to this program and revisions will be approved by majority vote of the Dogue de Bordeaux Society of America Board of Directors.  Notification of such revisions will be made to the membership on a timely basis.
